I just bought this fan and need to install it. I did a search in the forums about cooling fans but I am a little confused. the fan you see above is the fan I bought. It has two wires a blue (neg) and red (pos). What do i need to install this fan, relay? switch?
Basically I want the fan to turn on and off with the car.

A relay triggered from the remote power signal off your HU is probably the best way to go.  Your image did not post; did you use the proper "upload image" function or did you try to cut and paste?

Yes, that's a standard 12v computer fan.  You can use it.  A relay is best.

how do you mount the fan? it's square, so how do you cut a square out of the wood, etc., to mount it, if the mounting holes are not meeting a surface for the screws to grab.

In that case just connect the fan + directly to a switched 12 V source and the - wire to chassis ground.  No relay or anything else needed.  But the professional way is to have the fan turn on when the amp turns on, so if that is what you want follow the advice already given.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Cut a round hole the size of the round hole in the square fan.  Mount the fan to the surface.
