I installed a new radio to my 01 suburban and after it was all connected I could not hear anything, but the new radio works fine.  Does this mean that my truck has an amp and if so how do I get it to work with this new stereo.

Wait a second.  You said it doesn't make any noise, but it works fine?  Do you mean that the new HU turns on and all?  Make sure all your connections are good first.  To bypass the factory amp you ahve to do some splicing I think.  That's what i had to do for my car.  i don't know what you'd have to splice for your vehicle.
That's my opinion. Take it, leave it, or correct me.

Yes. The new stereo turns on but i cannot hear anything. I bought the harness and have checked all of the connections to make sure they are all ok, but still no sound. What I noticed from the harness is that on one part there are five wires, four of them connect to a wire on the car but one of them does not match. Could that be the problem?

Possibly.  Would you happen to have any pictures or diagrams?
