If this vehicle is the same as the Mk lV Golf and has a factory alarm, you will need to disable this, it cant be shutdown, assuming this also has a transponder you will need to by-pass this, pref with a 556U set to European mode.

Auto or manual, if manual does your alarm R/S have a manual provision?

You haven't mentioned what you are installing or if you are removing the original alarm but assuming you are, here goes.

12volt+ at ign lead or battery or fuse box RED

Ign at above BLACK

2nd ignition  at above BLACK / YELLOW

Starter at above RED / BLACK

Hazards BLACK/ WHITE BLACK/ GREEN or Lights GREY/Something at fuse box (we only do hazards in Europe)

Tach back of inst panel (test behind tachometer) or DEI 454t inductive box on batt lead.

Lock GREEN+, unlock GREY + (long time since I've done one, check they're the right way round) Looms from front doors

Door contacts BROWN / WHITE at any door switch

Trunk contact BROWN / RED at light

Hood switch required, usually on a right angle bracket adjacent to battery

Reversing light Can't remember..not relevant to a manual trannie anyway

Footbrake BLACK/ RED at switch

Parking brake, switch or back of instrument panel.

Sorry, that's all I can remember, remember to give at least 5 secs wait to start, should be able to achieve that as a default on diesel setting on your R/S
