I am adding a drone mobile to a compustar cm6000 using type 2 instal1 with serial connection. I connect the power to the drone mobile and both leds start blinking just like the instructions state, but then after one minute the gps led goes out and the cell led continues blinking.
I left it powered for 30 minutes and the cell just kept blinking and the gps light stayed off. I unhooked the power cable and let it sit for a few minutes and tried again, same thing. The car is outside in a lot, clear view of the sky in a area with full cell reception, both edge and 3g.
The drone module was sitting on top of the dash up against the windshield.
The directions state that after 2-3 minutes the cell led should go solid and after 5 minutes the gps led should go solid.

It's just not seeing the GPS satellites. Try powering down and them powering up again to reset the unit. Make sure you have a clear view of the sky at the windshield as the roof of the vehicle will also prevent the GPS signal from getting to the vehicle.
Most of the time if there's GPS satellite reception problems, you have to wait until the satellite(s) come into view in the sky or reset the system. If this still doesn't work, you MAY have a faulty GPS antenna in the Drone... but not likely.

I do not think you read my problem correctly.
The GPS led goes out after only a minute and does not go on solid. With the GPS led out, it is not even trying to lock on the satellites.
The CELL led continues to blink and never goes solid. I said I bad unplugged the power and retried several times. I even sat the unit on top of the car and the same thing happened.

Have you created an account for the Drone yet ? Also, call consumer tech support for help 888-820-3690 if the problem is still not resolved.

I called compustar tech support.  They told me that they are no longer shipping the units with the sim chip activated.  He said that there is an addendum to the instructions, which was left out of mine.

With the sim not active, the gps goes to sleep and the cell led stays flashing.

You have to log in first to your account and activate the sim now.

Also they told me that after I do this it is not going to function with my CM6000, because you must have a least firmware 3.11 for it to work on the RS232, and they are not shipping the cm6000 brains with that new of firmware.  I currently do not have a way to update the firmware.

I got the drone activated and tried it with my cm6000 over the rs232. The cm6000 is taking commands from the drone but it is double pulsing every command. The lock, unlock, trunk release and remote start all function normally with the remote, but using the drone every command is pulsed twice.
To upgrade the firmware on the cm6000, is everything you need included with the OP500?

All you need is the iDatalink updater ( switch pins 3 & 4 around for the Compustar ) and a LED valet switch. The OP500 updater has the updater along with it but you dont need to purchase it to program the CM6000 CPU
