Alarm / Remote Start System: Viper 560XV
Vehicle: 1995 Ford Contour SE
Vehicle Specifics: Factory keyless entry / remote trunk
I've been installing the Viper 560XV in my 95 Contour for the last week or so, just taking my time. So far, everything is going quite smoothly except for the interface to the factory Lock / Unlock function and trunk release.
Keyless Entry Problem
----------------------
Seeing as I have the factory keyless entry, do I still need relays? Or can I simply tap into the existing relays? Unfortunately, I don't have a factory remote so I can't press buttons and see what wires are getting signal. Also, if I do go ahead and use relays, where do I wire them to? I have tried looking under the drivers kick panel and found none of the wires which are supposed to go to the lock / unlock function.
Trunk Release Problem
---------------------
Since I don't have the factory remote, I don't know which wires are for the trunk release. I've tried searching, but I didn't see any wiring diagrams for the Contour's factory system. I know I'll either need to tap into the factory relay for this or add an additional relay, but I'm still unable to locate the proper wire to drive the actuator.
Thanks for any help! If anyone has a schematic of the factory keyless entry system, it would help tremendiously as I think I could figure out everything from that.

LOCK WHITE/ green In driver's kickpanel   +
 UNLOCK YELLOW /GREEN In driver's kickpanel   +
DOORPIN BLACK/ blue At courtesy light under dash   -
TRUNK PIN Black At light in trunk compartment   -
TRUNK RELEASE ORANGE / green At release switch in dash   +

Based on this info ...YES, you will need to use relays. One for each. lock, unlock, and trunk pop.

Thanks for the info!
That clears up the door locks, but I'm confused about the trunk. I don't have a trunk release switch in the dash. There is a manual lever on the floor by the driver's seat and there is the actuator controlled by the keyless entry but no button.
Anyone have more info on the trunk?
Thanks again!

Okay. So I got the locks working great and the trunk will work once I get another relay. The only thing left to do is get the car start working.
Again, this is a 95 Ford Contour SE with the Viper 560xv.
Symptoms: Car cranks but does not start.
I've diagnosed it to the fuel pump not getting power. When I look at the wiring diagrams, it seems I have everything wired up properly. When I engage the start sequence, I've noticed the dash lights coming on, them dimming and the starter engaging. Just to be sure, I set the unit to enable accessories while starting to determine if the fuel pump is on the accessory circuit. It's not.
Also, in probing all the wires, I really don't see any that turn on with the key but not with the remote start. Is it some relay wire coming off the ignition?
Any help would be appreciated! Winter is approaching quickly and I would really like to warm the car up from inside my house!

Oh ya. I forgot. I diagnosed the fuel pump problem because when I turn the key to run (right before turning it to start), I hear the pump pressurize the system. Using the remote start, I never hear the fuel pump start and the next time I start it with the key, I have to let it pressurize it longer than necessary.
Thanks again!

recheck the ignition harness wiring sounds like ignition not being powered.

Thanks alot! That was the problem. Turns out that just because you only have one fused 12V constant to the ignition doesn't mean you only have to connect one of the fused red wires from the relay of the remote start. I found the installation manual to be a bit ambiguous in this aspect.
Now that everything is properly connected, all works great!
