How do you get the hood release lever off on a 99 jetta?

from the inside or under the hood ? or ur hood wun open ? i work at vw. so lemme noe and i'll let u noe

How do I remove the hood release lever that is inside the car and basicly restricts the kickpanal from being removed. I am trying to get to the lock/unlock wires.
