Just wondering if anybody has some advice on how to control all the dust when sanding filler and such.

My dad doesn't enjoy all the dust I've created on my last few projects and basically told me no more sanding in his shop.

With over a foot of snow sitting outside now, sanding outside isn't really an (enjoyable) option.

I was thinking about making a small box with some poly and maybe a shop vac hooked up to it to sand in. Just big enough to fit small projects and enclosures. Not sure how effective that would really be though..

surely your best bet is going to be using a vacum to suck up dust as you create it. theres no good way to stop production of dust.

Agreed. Unless wet sanding is a option. Or electrostatic attractors.

Can you wetsand bare bodyfiller? or will it absorb water and possibly flake off at a later date after its painted?

The local auto store thing (in aus) sells car sized marque's if your sanding big stuff (and ina big space), i've seen them used as home spray painting booths, once your done, pack it up and store it in the cuoboard. Could you construct something from camping poles and a large plastic sheet like a mini sanding booth. I've never found vacuum cleaners or fancy sanders effective enough to bother with.
