Alternator to Battery, I have a 1965 Chevy Impala and the wire from the Alternator (10 to 14 AWG) goes to a Voltage regulator on the front frame next to the radiator then there is a wire that goes to the Bat. my quest is, could i Place the 0/1 AWG wire straight to the battery from the Alternator when upgrading? or would i need to wire it up to the Volt Reg then to the Bat? Also would i need a different or upgraded volt reg?

External voltage regulators on older cars carry full system current, so they must be sized for the max output from the alternator.  You should not bypass it.  Your best option if you need more than the 63 amps a 1965 Chevy alt produces is to upgrade to a modern HO alternator with an internal voltage regulator.

Look up the make/model number on the web, or ask the place you bought it from I guess.  big 3 -- posted image.
