Remove Ford Unit

Dumb question,  Ihave a Ford excursion and I need to pull out the head unit without tool.  How can I do this without the tool? Can I use small screwdrivers?  do I sqeez in or push out when pulling the system out?

use small screwdrivers or two pieces of metal coat hanger bent in a u like the tool and you pull the outer ends of the tool appart whitch squeezes the clips together behind the dash..tool 3.99 at most schucks auto supply.

They're called DIN Removal tools if you need to ask for them.

Wal-mart sells the din removal tools - probably some auto parts stores too. Around $5 or maybe less.
