Hey guys...
I just purchased an Alpine Componet set...
The SPX 177A
I am planning on running the set through my Alpine MRV-F340
What is the best way for me to do this? Use all 4 channels on the amp *tweeters/woofers* or would it be best if I bridged the amp and only used 2 channels (directly to the woofers).
Does anybody have insight to this?
Any help is much appreciated.
Thank you.
Joe

The SPX-177A crossover will accept a bi-amp setup, so you could use all four channels of the amp if you choose.

Example set up: use Ch. 1 for left high and 2 for left low, and Ch 3 for right high and 4 for right low.  You'll need to split the RCA signal so that the left signal from your HU goes to both amps Ch 1 and 2, and right from HU to 3 and 4.

The gain setup is much more difficult for a bi-amp configuration, but it also give you much more flexibility in correcting sound stage issues caused by your speaker placement.  Also you gain the ability to operate farther away from the noise and distortion thresholds of the amp.

Another way you can do it would be to set the x over to bi-wire then run a small jumper from the low input to the high input, this will make the amp see a lower impedence and increase the power to your speakers, then you still have 2 more channels of power to use for some other speakers. Tweeters are very small and effecient and don't need a whole lot of power, and unless you are running a very elaborate setup, I wouldn't waste my amp power to just to amplify my tweeters seperately.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't fix your brakes, so I made your horn louder"
