Hello,

I just pre-ordered an Alpine CDA-9857 and the new KCE-422i (i think thats the one) from crutchfield.  They now have something called "Full Speed".  Has anyone had any experience with this new IPOD technology?  The cable is only $30 so all the brains have to be in the deck.  I just wonder how it compares to the old KCA-410i interface.  It was slow and troublesome and only suppored like 256 artists (for name display).  I LOVE Alpine, and have heard good things about this upcoming deck.  I have already sunk the pre-payment, so I am getting it either way, but just looking for opinions from anyone who has used "full speed" on one of the other 2006 decks.  Thanks!

It's definately better then the 420i. Much faster I-Pod searching. Great value for $350. My problem is they don't address sound. Your top of the line deck ( I don't count the DVD players) should have at least 4 volt pre outs and should have a 24 bit DAC. This deck doesn't.

Does Alpine make a connector that has you continue to control music through the ipod, instead of using the headunit?

I will probably get one by the summer instead of using the radio freq. How does the quality of the Alpine compare to them? Im guessing its going to be direct as you can get. What do you guys prefer also, using the actual ipod or headunit for operation of the Ipod? Thanks

Actually ipod interface is MUCH better than any HU interface that I have ever seen, but alas, its not safe navigating through the ipod while driving. I am guessing that the new 2006 line of Alpine HU are about the best at emulating the IPOD navigation interface. I will know soon. AS far as sound quality, it is just as good as you will get plugging your headphones directly into the IPOD, except you get the benefit of the HU add-ons such as bassxpander and what not.
