K, I got a hard time deciding between subwoofers. I'm looking for a single subwoofer set-up. I want SQL...but obviously thats...well SQL is a whole nother story because u just can't get the best of both worlds. But I just don't want it to sound like complete crap, but I want it to be competition worthy. I'm looking for something that will be hitting around...145-150db on the TL in the kick. My price range is looking at about 500 dollars or so for a subwoofer. Powering it will be a JBL amp pushin about 1400rms @ 1 or 2 ohms. Originally I had been looking at like RE SX's and what not...but those prices went up ridiculously and I think those are to far out of my price range.
So now i've turned my attention to Fi because they've been getting crazy reviews and are well priced. I am looking at maybe an 18" BTL?? I'm going between a few subs
18" BTL
15" Soundstream RLP
Those are just the two right now beacuse of what I've heard. My question about the BTL is...from what i've read...it'll get loud enough. But how does it sound? I've heard of it being compared to the MT...
For a daily driver that won't be turned up that loud, what do you guys think?
Lemme know! I probably left out some information, but i'll be glad to fill it in as you ask

retail prices? this could be hard bc that is quite a bit of power for a single woofer.
I'd go with an eclipse SW9122, it can handle some crazy power!

Or an ED 19Ov.2
That could handle that power

Well I can also run it at 4ohms at 877RMS is was tested at. Its the JBL BP1200.1
the BTL's are rated at 2000rms...
like i was saying, this is hopefully going to be just to get loud for comps and watnot. During daily driving, sometimes I just use my door speakers for bass. I'm not really the kind of person that drives around constantly bumping their subs to everyone. I would just want to be able to crank it up for when the comp in our town comes around. Is this even doable??
obviously I would need two different boxes..but thats not a problem

If you're looking to spend $500 or so then the rl-p is not even close to that, you could get two for that much.  You could step up to the rl-s which is more in that price range.  It can handle a ton of power as well.  But if you are looking for a sub for just SPL then there are better routes to go then soundsplinter because these are designed with SQ in mind(although they can get loud).  As far as for "SQL" they are a good choice though.

Well i'm willing to spend up to around 500. Just because I have that much doesn't mean I have to spend it all. As for there RL-S series...they are SVC 4ohms. I wouldnt be able to sufficently power then with my JBL amp @ 4ohms. And to get 2 of them...well thats just to much money. I'm really liking that Fi BTL though. The Eclipse is looking pretty good though to. What are some other ideas out there though?
The CV strokers maybe? The Rockford T2's look nice, but after owning several sub-par cheap rockfor subs, I haven't been looking at them that strongly. Some guy in our local competition had 2 15" T2's and hit a 149.7 TL in an Eclipse. What would be a comparable subwoofer?

Are you more concerned about numbers or SQ?
