What are some techniques for keeping the wiring neat when reverse mounting subs? I don't want to have wires draped everywhere, and possibly being a hazard. I would just mount them normally, but, big port hole + long subwoofer = no fit.

Cable management is limited only by your creativity and imagination.  Me, I like to simply use plastic zip ties.  Others like to use expandable sleeving or raceways or even shrink tubing.  Use whatever works for your installation.

Big zip tie to keep it close to the woofer, split loom for the run down into the box.

About 2/3's of the way down in this page is how I did mine. Seems to work like a finger in a nose!
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
