This system is driving me nuts. Ok so some back ground. I have installed a half dozen remote starts on various cars. My buddy bought a smart start for his wife's 07 Toyota 4 runner. We did the install as always with the key bypass. And it successfully started the truck once. Every time after that it energizes the ignition and Accy circuits but it turns off before putting power to the starter circuit. Any help or ideas?

Check all of your shut down wires to make sure it isn't getting shut down early (ie brake, hood pin, neutral safety switch). If it were something with the bypass it would usually at least crank or even start up then shut down... and it doesn't appear to even be getting that far.
Are there any shut down diagnostic signals (flashing lights, etc)? You can also try putting a key in the ignition barrel, disconnect the bypass and try it, but I don't think it will work since it doesn't appear to be a bypass issue.

When would I be looking for the flashing lights?

When you try to start it, it should go throuh the sequence (ignition on, accessory on, starter signal, etc) and if it does not start it will shut itself down and try again 2 more times (a total of 3 attempts at starting). After the 3rd attempt if it does not start it will usually flash the lights a certain amount of times. Then match the number of flashes to the diagnostic chart in the manual and it should tell you what shut it down.
I would test your connections while trying to start it. First check your brake wire during the entire remote start sequence and make sure it isn't getting any signal. Then check you hood pin wire in the same fashion, then check your neutral safety shutdown wire which should be a constant ground signal.
