Hello,

I just purchased a Prostart 5060 remote starter to install in a 2002 Nissan Sentra.  It's for the manual transmission.  Once it's all hooked up I'm having a problem getting the unit to initialize.  It flashes for 60 seconds then stops.  If I try to do any of the hoodpin diagnostics it just goes back into this 60 second flash sequence.  I have the feeling that the problem is with my hookup at the ignition.  It is as follows:

I have BOTH 12 Volt Red wires from the unit connected to the WHITE/ Red on the ignition harness.

I have the Yellow connected to the BLACK/ Red on the ignition harness

I have the Orange connected to the White on the ignition harness

I have the Violet connected to the BLACK/ White on the ignition harness

I have the Green not hooked up (5th Relay)

Unit Colour Codes are as follows:

Red x2 = 12 Volt

Yellow +Ignition

Orange +Accessories

Violet +Starter

Green +5th Relay

I have the feelinig it might be my 2 Reds hooked up the same or my 5th relay connection....

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Mike

One more update - - - - -

After looking at it just now, when the alarm is flashing for the 60 seconds, the parking lights flash (no siren but may be the connection on the siren) I noticed that the parking lights don't flash as bright as they do when I use the unlock/lock that is factory installed (about half brightness)... Also, the valey button does NOTHING when I attempt to put it into valet mode.

Thanks,

Mike

just to eliminate possibility's does the alarm are and disarm.  when you programmed remote did pl flash 5 times these unit can sometimes be tricky to program you sometimes have to press lock and then press and hold lock .also check to make sure you have pasrk brake hooked up.also you need to hook up 2nd start wire or it wont start when cold use green wire on rs and change jumper on rs to 2nd start and hook to BLACK / YELLOW   you also have 2 ing it is white use a relay and wire to white wire on rs should be out while running check the book to make sure it should be on the harness with locks any other problems let me know i put theser units in for canadian tire.

Kirk,

That would be great except for the fact that I can't get into program mode... if I press the hood switch to engage the programming sequence, all that happnes is the 60 second flash pattern restarts.

Again thanks for any info you can provide.

Kirk,

Basically the unit refuses to go into valet mode... I have another one on it's way and I'll have it tonight... I'll give that a try.

Thanks.

Mike
