Does anyone know where I can order a adaptor for my remote start unit so I can connect my tach wire to my coils?  I can't seem to get a signal .

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.

Jon, where is the white wire in a black clip labeled white? Do you think I have an allright location behind my instument cluster for connecting to the tach?  I suppose my last resort is hooking up at the ECM under the hood but I really don't want to hook up there because it is such a mess of wires and I really don't want to make that kind of connection under the hood where I might run into problems down the road with moisture and so on.  What's your oppinion?

I can't seem to find a white wire in a black clip on my drivers side fender well.  If I do find the wire how do I meter it to know if it is the correct one?  Will just a digital multimeter do the job?

I went and searched past forums and found one on June 13,2002 from 2000 Blazer and he says everyone he talked to and every web-site he was on said his tach wire was white.  He had a conversation with Jeff a Velocity motorsports and he found out that it was a WHITE/ black wire and that did the trick.

set meter to ac current 200 will read bettween2--6 volts   1.ECM is located near the battery, down low, between the fender and the fan under the black plastic cover. On the 4.3L, the tach wire is at pin 20 in the connector labeled "red", and VSS wire is at pin 3 in the connector labeled "black". On the 4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L, the tach wire is located at pin 10 in the "red" connector, and VSS wire is located in pin 50 of the "red" connector.

Notes:

If you have a 2000 Classic Pickup, refer to the 1998 Full Size Pickup.

Note:  This vehicle has the passlock II immobilizer system that, when adding a remote start, must be interfaced with. Use DEI part 555t or 555L.

Note: Diesel glow plug, dk. blue(-) located at the instrument cluster. Diesel tach wire is white at the cluster.
*1 The BCM is located behind the drivers side of the dash.  The plugs on the BCM face towards the rear of the vehicle. The parking lights are in pin A5 and the headlights are in pin A11.
*2 Use tan for the drivers door located in pin B4 of the purple plug, and for the passenger door it will be a orange in pin B2 in the purple plug or dk.blue/white in pin B11 of the lt.blue plug, must diode isolate these wires.
*3  ECM is located near the battery, down low, between the fender and the fan under the black plastic cover.

I just installed a remote start on my 2002 Silverado.  I used the tach wire going into the instrument cluster.  There are 4 screws you have to remove, it plugs into the top and I think it was the only white wire in the plug.  I had to get to the wait to start light there anyway so I had it out.  Splicing in 2 wires instead of one and not run to the ECM.
