Hi,

I have searched the archives and come up with many discussions revolving around programming Compustar remotes to work with their module.  I have not found an answer to my question in the owner's manual or in these threads though.

I just installed the 1W900FM-S in my wife's 2001 Highlander.  All wires I feel necessary for remote start, keyless, and transponder are soldered, shrink wrapped, double and triple checked with DVOM and factory wiring diagram.  The tach sense procedure worked first try.  The antenna is installed.  Problem is the remotes don't communicate.  I ran out of time with the car and won't be able to work on it until tomorrow again.  Is it possible that the remotes that come with the unit AREN'T programmed to it already??  It's been a long time since I put in an alarm, but I remember the old DEI two button remotes working out of the box.

It would ease my fears to know this is true and all I need to do is perform the learning procedure.  I can't imagine what I would have wired wrong to make them not communicate!

BTW, the manual is a little... well, difficult to follow... is there a trick to programming the two remotes at once, or do you do them completely separately, or??  These are the four button one-way FM remotes with blue LED.

Thanks so much for any and all replies!!

Correct, they do not come program.

I found the manual a little difficult to follow myself even though I have done one or two of these unit before. As for programing those darn remote.
Turn the Key to ON and OFF five times without starting the car. You should be able to hear the unit click. Once it does. Press the lock button and do the same for the next remote. After a couple of second it will exit out of the programing procedure. The remote should now be program.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.Compustar 1W900FM-S Remotes Need to be Programmed? -- posted image.

Thanks alot, pencil!  I feel much better.  I swear the manual doesn't have that info about non-programmed out of box.  I assume that Compustar installers mix and match parts because they are not available as a "kit" like most retail products.
