I am going to need to relay my remote turn on for 4 amps off my deck....has anyone ever come across a "nice looking" relay that you would visibly mount.....

Thanks!

Josh

Yes you will need a relay for the remote turn on lead for 4 devices. As far as a relay for show ....  haven't seen one or used one before. Doesn't mean that it's not out there.

Thanks....how do  you usually wire that up....dont ask, but I would probably need to have the relay mounted externally....I suppose I could hide it under the seat and just run wire to the 4 amps.....hmmm........thats why I was looking for a visible relay.....

oh thanks....I know how to wire it :) I meant when you do an install with multiple amps do you hide an external relay or how do you take care of multiple amp turnons.....

Oh yeah.... I hide the relay. It's not much of a show piece so it gets hidden underneath the false floor or tucked under the amplifier somewhere.

Personally I wouldn't because I have way too much other things that I would sooner display that a relay such as distribution bloacks, fuse blocks, caps, processor CPU's, etc......

Is it not possible to just run the remote/power antanna output wire form the headunit to the rmt on the amp? as far as i know most if not all amps have 3 inputs (besides audio) 12+, ground, and RMT the rmt is like the coil on a relay, as soon as the RMT see's a positive signal (output from the antanna wire) the amp  turns on, and with it being a low current signal, you can just piggy back that wire, for instance, from the head unit, to amp1's rmt terminal, from amp 1's rmt terminal to amp2's rmt terminal and so on. I did that with 2 of my amps and had no problems as far as I know, although the battery seems to get drained after a few days but I think its something wrong with one of the amps, (got them for free) or something else is drawing power, but it could also just be the fact that my battery is old, and I haven't been running the engie in awhile. Hope that helps, if you're not sure though, I wouldn't try it, but it shouldn't be a problem

Yes it is possible but he has 4 devices that he wants to power up witht he single remote turn on lead. This type of current draw on the wire will cause problems with the devices turning on and staying on. I would say running 2 devices of the remote turn on lead is safe, but anything above 3 is questionable.

I guess, but the remote isnt a high current line, don't know for sure what the amp rating is, but the remote wire, as far as i remember when i installed my radio, doesnt have a fuse on it, which to me says its not very strong at all. after all the power the amp actully runs on doesnt come from the RMT line. I'm sure you have more experiance with this, so I'll take your word for it till I find out other wise :)

Hey Jeff,

What size fuse should I install inline with the remote turn on wire if I am going to use it for turning on 2 amps? Is the draw going to be enough to require a fuse? Maybe I'm just overly cautious. (If there is such a thing with electricity)

Nevermind, I just put a 1 amp fuse inline in an easy to reach location.
