Hi, Wanted to see if anyone could point me in the right direction on where to start trouble shooting a bad speedometer. This is what happens, when im driving this thing goes nuts up to like 70 mph and im only doing like 20 i think. If anyone outhere knows where i should begin to look it would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks

You can start at the vehicle speed sensor (VSS). Try unplugging it, see if you get the same random behavior from the cluster or nothing at all. If you get nothing then you can try checking out all the wiring near the VSS and look for any signs of wear that might contribute to your issue.

Thanks awdeclipse, By any chance do you know where it might be located?

If its cable-driven mechanical, I'd say it's stuffed (main bearing/bush; the mag-drive is binding).

But if electronic.... hmmm....
Maybe it accelerates so hard that the electrons take a while to catch up....
