This project is to boost the output of an HID ballast from original 35W to 45W and 50W. I already succeeded in boosting the ballast output with the use of a 100K potentiometer but I would like to use a rotary switch for it to be more precise. After some reading, I discovered that I will need a 47K resistor wired to the MEDIUM side of the switch to get 45W output and then 33K resistor to get 50W output.

I need help finding a rotary switch that will function like this:

1) OFF - MEDIUM - HIGH

2) How do I wire the switch and resistors?

Hope you guys can help me!

Draw and post a diagram of the 3 configurations.  Radio Shack sells a rotary switch.

I'm not able to upload any picture/diagram that I have. Anyway, the rotary switch I got is a 3 POLE, 3 POSITION, non-shorting type.

Can you guys help me how to wire this.
