If you have two black wires, one with silver wire and one with copper wire. Copper wire is + pos / silver - neg.

Red and black?
White and WHITE/ black? Japanese.
Red and brown? DIN
Brown and black? UK pre 70s
Is the OP a comment or a question.
How to test? Meter it, or continuity to chassis of object to be powered.

I thought it was spam so I merely replied with the obvious...
If I'm wiring and I need to know which conductor should be what I'll look it up. EG - is it the copperish or silverish terminal on a circuit breaker or switch that should be the more positive?
[ Not that it's usually relevant anyhow - IMO not using brass nuts with stainless bolts (or vice versa) or copper headgaskets with alloy engine heads (and iron blocks) is far more important. ]
But to make the OP statement IMO is totally useless. As if we would NOT test to confirm! (read HowieII's signature)
And as a statement it is severely lacking qualification and application.
