Hi Guys, I've got a cheap ebay coming home light kit, works great, apart from one little issue; When it receives a trigger signal, it sends the output to the headlights, great, however as soon as the trigger signal goes off the headlights do too, the half a second later the 555 kicks in and turns the lights back on for the set period.

All I want to do is get some sort of delay that will bridge that half a second so there is no apparent loss of current. I thought a capacitor might work but the way I've been using it doesn't appear to work, any ideas?

The 555 should be triggering off the leading edge (start) of the trigger.
Else there is something wrong with the circuit - maybe its design or its implementation - eg, inverted trigger polarity.

Inverted polarity makes sense, there are 4 trigger wires on the unit, 2 marked positive, two marked negative. It is only a cheap unit though so dodgy design would not surprise me. I'll try swapping the polarity of the triggers, see if that helps. If that doesn't work, can you suggest any quick and dirty fixes that might work?

The proper fix would be a DEI 528t timer relay.
