I'm trying to hookup a turbo timer to my 2001 MR2 Spyder except I'm having one problem. When I remove the key from the ignition the car shuts off however the power steering pump and some other electronics sound like they're still activated until the timer has finished counting down.

If I lower the parking the brake (to kill the timer's counting) the electronics all shutoff. I'm guessing I'm on the right track except it seems like power isn't being supplied correctly to the ignition. Here's the wiring diagram for my car:

This is for the 2000 - 2002 MR-2 and the data base does not differentiate between the Spyder and the hard top coupe.

Notes:
NOTE: Some models have an immobilizer system that needs to be bypassed during remote start. Use DEI module 555F or 555U to bypass. *1 Requires a double pulse for unlock. Using the same color wire in the passengers kick only requires a single pulse.    *2 Drivers door is red or RED / white in the drivers kick panel. Passenger door trigger is RED / white in the passenger kick panel. Use both wires and diode isolate each.

Since I see two ignition wires, does that mean that both need to be hooked up to the timer? I only hooked up the first ignition wire (BLACK / YELLOW). Or is it most likely something else that I should check?

Thank you.
-Mitch

I would think both ignition wires would need to be used.

Does it shut off only when the key is removed? or when it is turned to the off position?  If it will run on the timer with the key in the ignition and in the off position the problem sounds like you did not by pass the immobilizer.  You will need a bypass like you would for remote start.
