Does anyone have an installation suggestions for a Bluetooth Phone car kit that has the mute line and audio for the vehicle speakers? I am not sure if the 2003 Accord has a mute line and allows audio to be routed to front speakers. You can buy Telemute kits from Europe, but that is a long shot.
I don't believe the accords have mute wires. the only way would be to buy a module that integrates into the speaker wire leads so that when the phone is in use the speaker leads are routed to the phone and not the deck. You could do it with relays, but I don't think the phone kit can output either power to drive a speaker. Which Accord do you have because the EX with Nav may different from the standard LX
as a standard rule of thunmb, yes the data box in a phone kit usually power a front speaker, car kit speakers are generally 8ohms, so linking up your drivers side speaker isn't a problem, the data boxes will go down to 4ohms, not a prob, especially if the unit has output wires for it. Now as for radio mute there is a couple of way you ca go about checking for it
1, get the manual! <~~~My suggestion
2, the radio mute output on a head unit usually has between4-6 volts coming off of it, find out which wires have this voltage.....nearly all of them will be speaker wires but if you have radio mute one will not be a speaker wire, to test if it the radio mute (I know, you will all call me a butcher for this but it is just so simple and safe....in reality) Get a peice of wire and put 1amp fuse inline with it, attach it to the wire that you think maybe the radio mute and then attach other end to earth.....if fuse blows thats not radio mute and dont go there again!, if radio cuts out but displays looks normal.....then it's probably a speaker wire and protection has cut in, if it is radio mute it wal say something along the lines of "Telmute", "Voice in" "phone" you will no it when you see it.......and to think I do this for a living!!!!!!
now, if you dont have a radio mute wire then you can create one using a relay.......okies rackijng the brain here now!, take a relay andand connect the radio mute wire from the data box to the earth pin on the relay, cut your accesory wire to the unit and split the input to the supply and also to the trigger pins on the relay, now reconnect the accesory wire to the head unit via pin 87a <~~~~must be 87a, what this does is each time a call comes in, the readio mute complets the circuit in the relay via providing an earth to the relay, thus causing the relay to switch on (or off depends how you look at it) removing the accessory feed to the unit causing it to switch off, when you hang up your call, it breaks the circuit in the relay connecting accessory feed back to the head unit and it will switch back on agin.
