hello i just built a subwoofer box for my car but i took it out because its in the shop. the box is in my room. the subwoofer doesnt sound as it soundson the car. i cant hear the lows very good, only when i stand in the corner of the room i can hear the lows (so sweet) what can i do to be able to hear the sub all over the room should i face the sub in a certain way???? please help.

See if you can set the sub in a corner.

i wouldnt suggest hooking it up to your home stereo.

why not?? posted_image i think it sounds very good and my house amp is 4ohm rated just likethesub. the only problem is that i cant hear the lows through the whole room only in the corners. ive heard that if would work if i face thesub towardsthe floor is this true.

It can help sometimes, or you can try turning it 90 degrees from where it sits, or reversing polarity.

In a car you have a nice helping factor called cabin gain that will emphasize the bass from even the cheapest subwoofer at around 50Hz. Placement is less of an issue since the physical space available is so small. In a room you do not have it quite so easy. Corner placement, etc. can generate some room gain, but it is all about the size of the room and what else is sitting in it. and how the sub is positioned, not to mention how the enclosure is constructed to optimize the woofer's performance, how the amp is EQ'd, etc. The reason good home subs cost so much more than car subs is not simply because of nice veneered cabinets!
