I need to know what a "data signal" would look like on a oscilloscope. I am looking at a wire in a Navigator and want to know if there is any data transfer on it. Thanks!!!

That is what I was thinking... What does it mean when the screen shows a steady line and then every so often it spikes. The spike is constant. Is is a spike, not a square wave.

could be interferance or feedback from something else on the line?when you have the straight line you have no data transmission. try to induce a signal (make it produce a data transfer).without details thats the best i can do .lol

Is there a wire in a car I can probe and it will show me "data transfer"? I know what a square wave looks like, I just would like to know I am reading my scope properly and so I can see it on the scope. The wire I am probing is suppose to control the "air blend door" on the rear air condition of a Navigator. I am wanting to tap it for a 12v source.

well thats a differnet story. i would check the wire it controls in the air blend curcuit and see what that wires polarity is. if it is (-) or (+). but what are you trying to use this 12v source for. do you need constant, do you need pulse? how many amps will you be pullig through this feed from the nav. give me a little more info and ill see if i can help.

I have another question... I was told that the spike on that wire is a analog data signal. Is this true?
