I recently purchased a Crimestopper CS-845RKE remote keyless entry system off ebay.  Unfortunately I'm unable to make sense of the vague instructions that came with the device.  I'm currently trying do decide which vehicle to install it in, my '99 Dodge 1500 or my wife's '03 Dodge Caravan.

I understand the Caravan has a 1-wire lock system and the Ram has a 2-wire lock system (hopefully I'm right about that).  Does anyone have a suggestion on which vehicle it will be easier to install on, and what additional relays or resistors will be required?

Thanks in advance,

Install it on the '99 RAM. It will eb easier than the '03 Caravan by far. Here are the specs for each vehicle and you can make the decision yourself from looking at the information:

1999 Dodge RAM Pick up:

POWER LOCK---------------ORANGE / purple *1    |5wi|----------driver door harness
POWER UNLOCK-------------pink/purple *1      |5wi|----------driver door harness

Keyless models use positive trigger for lock, and 5-wire for unlock. Can also find wires at the central timer module to the right side of the steering column, lock is ORANGE / green, unlock is pink/green.

2003 Dodge Caravan:

POWER LOCK----------------PURPLE / green *3     |-  |conn. 3, pin 21 @ BCM
POWER UNLOCK--------------same wire

The BCM is in the drivers kick panel near the parking brake. It has 5 plugs in it, one 6 pin plug and four 34 pin plugs. Lock is negative trigger thru a 5.3K ohm resistor. Unlock is negative trigger thru a 2.0K ohm resistor. MUST use relays.

Thanks for the info Jeff.  I'll put it in the Ram, provided I can figure out where the wires I need are located.

You can access the wires at the drivers kick panel. Remove the plastic guard beside the e-brake and you will need to take the insulation out of the squar hole by the arm of the e-brake. Look for the wires there and use the information above to wire in the RKE.
