I recently took my amp apart and shaved all the paint off of the casing.
I am running a 2 Channel class D 1200Watt amp.
It is hooked up in Stereo to (2) 12 Inch subs
When I have the system on, and volume to nothing at all, there is a low rumbling type of noise coming from the subs only, not my interior speakers.........and the noise picks up a little with my revs. What could be causing this? My grounds are all good and all the connections are good. ANy help?
Also, when I turn the system off, there is a loud "pop" emitted from the subs and then everything shuts off........Any help here?
How is your ground for the amplifiers ? Make sure that you do not have bad RCA's and also make sure that your ground is less than 3 feet from the amplifier.

Amplifier turn-off thump is a question of timing. I realize that the head unit controls the amp thru the remote but if the head unit turns off faster than the amp you end up with thump.
Do a test : disconnect the rem to the amp while the radio is on and if thump goes away then you have to add a delay to the output side of the turn-on transistor in the head unit. Not an easy task but it works. Seen it. Done it.
Also the rumble probably comes down the shield of your RCA's. Disconnect from head unit.....rumble goes away. Simply touch the shield to the chassis of the head unit..if rumble comes back, you have two options.
1) Cut the shield at the head unit end.
2) Buy interconnects that are made this way....Rockford has 'em for example.

If you run your power cable next to your rca's the magnetic wave will distort and create a crappy signal. Just run one or the other down the oppiste side. that may help.
Or if you have to cross your power & rca's make sure they do so at a 90 degrees.In any case though it sounds like you have a few problems to find & fix.Keep us posted & let us know what you find out & do.

my subwoofwrs are making a weired sound too,but it's not arumbling it's more like a woom just like a bass note. It does it even when it's paused and turned down .mainly when I hit the brakes or jult the car in anyway. I can't for the life of me figure out what the problem is . Somebody please help!.
It may be your ground on your head unit not being a solid ground. Check your RCA's for breaks or cracks as well. Other notible causes may be weak speaker leads ( internal problem of the amp ).

I forgot to mention one thing. When I turn the radio up loud it doesn't do it all. Even in parts of a song with no bass but it starts to do it when I turn the radio down. I was thinking about getting a noise rducer but I don't know if that wuld work for this particular problem.
