I'm trying to get into the door panels on a '90 Maxima but can't get them off. After removing other screws, connectors, etc., the door panels appear to still be connected where the door handle and buttons to operate the windows are located. I can't figure out how to get access to the area to remove any bolts that may still be there. Any idea? A pix or diagram would be handy.
If it's the same body style as '91 or '92, there should be a couple of plastic caps close to the door hinge side that must come off and there is screws behind those. Also, the door handle (not the one you lift to open the door, but the one you grab on to to pull the door closed) has a rubber cap that you can remove with a small flathead screwdriver. After that cap is removed, there's another srew. Then where the actual door handle is to open the door, there's a plastic "cup" type piece that can be removed with the same small flathead screwdriver. Once that's out, theres two more srews that have to come out.
After that, you just need to pull the panel off as it's held on be plastic clips. I've changed a lot of window regulators on these Nissans so that should be it. It's a little tricky getting the panel back on though.
