I just need to get a negative pulse from the drivers door lock of a 2002 dodge ram quad, for a remote start activation...............   Do I need to use relays for this, or resistors???

No alarms, just factory keyless entry..

thanx

You would need a relay.  The only wire you can tag is going to be the drivers door unlock motor wire.  You should also take into account that when you hit unlock on the door the truck will start.  You could come up with a way to bypass the switch.

You could use one relay to provide the ground when the drivers door unlocks and use another relay to cut the ground going to thirty of the other relay when the passenger unlock goes pos.   This is assuming the vehicle has progressive locks( all 02 and 03 dodge rams I have worked on have).

This is getting much too complicated............  How bout we try this from another route.........  When I lock the truck using the oem remote, I get two horn chirps confirming that it's locked.............  Is there any way to get the negative pulses i need for the remote start from these horn chirps????

And if so, where would I begin to look ???

just use a relay connect to door lock motor wire Tan\pink or Tan\black in drivers kick panel wire relay as follow

PIN 86  connects to door lock motor wire

pinn 87 and 85 to ground -

pin 30 will be you negative trigger

 don't use pin 87a

it's very easy I do this all the time , you car will remain lock, and your remote will operate when the car is running. Good Luck!

Also I forgot. Programm you remote starter for 2 or 3 pulses or your remote starter will activate everytime you lock your car. Good Luck!

Hey, Great solution................  thanx for the info.......

I've just got one question though, If I wire this exactly like you said, what will happen if I use the power door lock switch(on the door armrest) to send two lock commands??       Will this activate a remote start ??

Yes it will start the vehicle and run for the preprogrammed runtime. I used that setup on a 2002 GMC Sierra and the customer loved being able to start the vehicle from the interior...added bonus. I used 3 lock pulses though...insures less inadvertant starts. If you accidentally start the vehicle, pressing the lock button one more time should shut it back down or depress the brake.

yes it will activate the RS unit, alot of my costumers like that feature. it will activate the RS since is using your door lock motor wire. GOOD LUCK!..

Is there another way of doing it, so that it will not activate with a pulse's from the power door lock switch???

Just return that model and buy a unit that offers Remote Start with Keyless Entry. Your range is pretty limited when using your factory remote anyway. Otherwise the vehicle will start when pulsed from the interior. That's just the way those add-on units are designed.
