I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee that I can't get the turn signals to work. Everything has been checked and the turn signal switch was determined to be the problem. I installed a new turn signal switch and have the same problem. The emergency flashers work fine. With the swich just hanging by the wiring harness, you can ground the purple wire in the harness and the turn signals work. There's only one flasher for both the turn signals and the emergency flashers. I know it's possible to have gotten a new swich that's bad, but probably not. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks, roustaboutx
I just had a similar problem in a Jeep cherokee sport but i think it was a 98. The hazards worked but no turn signals. Turns out when the guy took the jeep to the dealer to replace the a/c compressor they pulled the fuse for the flashers and forgot to put it back in. The fuse box was in the passenger kick panel and the fuse was listed as flashers and something to do with the climate control for the car( rear defrost or something) and one other thing i forget what. Im sure youve probably checked fuses but I bring it up because the primary listing for the fuse wasnt flashers or signals so it could be easy to miss. good luck.
Thanks very much for the reply. I will certainly check all the fuses, etc. again beforel I do anything else. Thanks
