this is my first post, i am 16 and i own a 64 dodge 880, i have started planning a huge fiberglass trunk, my org plans for it include 2 subs in a fiberglass box, where the spare is(pic below) and 2 pair of mids on each side. the side will be half fiberglass to hold the mids and maybe an amp for them, and the other half ill make an old looking sidepanel with the old dodge logo on it, with the same material and the same design im hoping to carpet the entire floor with again the old dodge logo, im looking for ideas and maybe prices on parts for the fiberglass. i havent worked at all with fiberglass and im on a budget(currently broke) but will get more money b4 the next school year starts. not that it maters now, but my plan was to attach the remote wire for the amp for the mids to the light for the trunk seeing as the remote wire only takes like 450milliamps(correct me if im wrong), that way when you open the trunk to show someone the mids come on then

i thought of putting them in the kickpanels but i like the whole idea of keeping the original interior, minus the head unit screws. its just in so nice of condition. if i scrap up enough money and learn f/g ill think about replacing the original stuff with my own work

also try looking around ,maybe a bone yard , you might be able to pick up an extra set of kicks so you dont have to use the originals

im from the chicago area lol the suburbs. As for the junkyard idea, im sure i could find some but i havent touched f/g yet and i have a huge plan thats goin to take alot of money and time already. im sure ill be doin more for the car in the future.

i have looked into the f/g fourm, they show some step by step stuff, but b4 i attempt anything i was trying to find some "expert" advice, like how many layers of f/g for the mids, prices and how much of each material i would be needing to atleast start with f/g
being 16 and driving money is becoming an issue with me

im from the burbs as well, bolingbrook to be exact and i know what you mean bout gas money being an issue for you. im 30 and it hurts me just to drive to work. you can go into there search engine and find alot of installs and step by step i structions as well as a material list of what is needed, i say to do your kicks would be around $200 or so for the 2, and you wouldnt be ruining the interior being now holes and such. and they would can easily taken out in a matter of mins. if you wanted the original look. also a bit of advice the mids are not gonna sound good at all being in the trunk, and i hope you dont plan on sharing airspace with the subs. suggestion would be to get yourself a set of 2 way componets for the mids/highs, and epending on the sub ur getting you can get away with a 5 channel amp, or u can go with a 4 channel to runthe componets and 6x9s. and a 2 channel or mono for the sub.

hey also why did u mount the 6x9s from underneath the deck.and layers for the kicks would only need to be 2-3 more than strong enough and give good sound. you figure a sub box is looking 7-10 layers but depends on the subs

ok well i know how easy it is t switch or remove the panels i had to fix/unjam the lock for the rear door took me maybe 30 mins just cuz i was careful not to loose or brake anything, the 6x9s are under cuz the paint job actually sucked on the inside...it was suspending one end and it would raddle when i had it on the higher volumes, even when i tightened it, i was excited to hear it so i put it underneath in a hurry. the paneling is off cuz me and my dad didnt want to put holes in the original panel, and i was desperate for fm/cds...AM was driving me crazy after a while.

i thought i posted in the original post the mids in the trunk would be for showing off...this is a car show car. the idea was to put 2 sets of mids(if i found a lower 2 ohm amp)on each side and the remote wire for the amps connected to the light switch for the trunk. so when you open the trunk to show someone the system the mids turn on. i sketched it out somewhere, if i find the paper ill scan it and post it to show you my actual idea
