I'm making a tonneau cover for the hatchback of my car and would just want to know whats the best way to color the vinyl? would it be with a dye, paint, marker, or just use a spray adheasive and glue on a layer of material on the backside like a 1/8" black foam or something similar like a black suedu although the underside will be rarely seen I dont want it to have the gray/whiteish raw edge showing and would prefer it to be softer incase I need to carry anything back there...

Thanks in advance

i cant think of a way to colour the back side of the vinyl, other then the mentioned adding of backing material. or sewing two pieces back to back. the issue you will find is that the back side of the vinyl was never meant to be coloured in anyway so it isnt included in the design work. personally id look around and see if you cant find a vinyl with a backing fabric already made.
