I'm really new at this (fiberglassing and custom enclosures), so please forgive me if I am asking a really easy question that has been asked over and over . . . .

I've been "lurking" in the forums for a few months, and I have been amazed by the knowledge and experience you guys have shown me.  I have learned a lot of good info in these forums.

Anyway, my question is this:  Is it possible to match the "pebbly" texture on the OEM (Ford) dash.  I'm sure you know what I am talking about; all of the plastic panels and covers have a "grainy" texture (F250 Powerstroke, but I think all Fords have the same texture).  I am working out the design for a custom center console, and I also want to blend my guage pods into to the dash so it looks like it was part of the original design

I have been thinking that I can make a rubber mold of the dash texture, and then use that sort of like a stamp with some filler to blend the seams.  Has anyone come across this?  I would really appreciate any advise:D

Thanks!

Bruce

the most common way to achive a similar texture is to use SEM texture spray. another option is to use rocker panel spray. then dye the piece to match the interior color.

The SEM texture spray is the only way to go, make some test runs with it to get the hang of it as it is sometimes a little difficult to get the desired effect. Stay away from the rocker panel spray unless you want it to look all bubbly and bumpy like a rocker panel.

Thanks for the advise guys, I appreciate it.  It sounds like I need to practice with it for a bit, but it looks like it is just the stuff I am looking for.

Thanks again!
