Dakota fiberglass project

Hey all, told you a while ago that I was doing a fiberglass project for my dodge dakota reg. cab, and its done! I'm pretty happy with it, although there are two slight problems. One is that the paint job sucks. Me and my buddy just got car spray paint from autozone and soem acrylic clearcoat and sprayed it down, but its already starting to wear off. Oh well, maybe once I get some money I'll take it to a paint shop and have it done professionally. The other problem is that I think the Audiobahn decal thingy on the sub is loose or somethign because when I crank it up, I get this nasty farting vibration noise. Looks really good man.  Really good for a first time project.  Can't really help you with your problems... but as for the paint... If you use spray cans you should go to a paint supplier like Sherwin Williams or something similar and buy some high quality trim paint.

You also should lay down a coat of adhesive promotor and primer before you spray the color.  Also, make sure you follow the directions pertaining to time between applications and also time before you clear.  You should be able to getting that thing looking just as good as taking it to a body shop.  Although having a shop paint that shouldn't cost much more than buying all of the supplies to paint it your self.

Audiobahn subs that have those little logos rivited to the cone always have vibration problems. The only effective solution is to remove the emblem. Other than the audiobahn (not a fan but the setup looks awsome) I like the setup, nice and clean. As for the paint, Did u sun bake it? and how many coats did u use? I'd suggest 3 layers of primer, 3 layers of paint and 2 layers of clear all done with either a heat lamp or the sun beating on them to allow the paint to cure quicker and a little more securly than in a cool enviorment.
