I am installing subs into a custom 3/4 MDF box. Any suggestions or tricks on installation, especially what would be the best screws to use. Two 10" Alpine E series subs. Every other box I have had came w/ subs.
Thanks.
You can use any screws man. I use those little black drywall screws about 1" long or so. Some people use T-nut screws alot of people really like those. I personally just go to wal mart or home depot and use the old drywall ones.

Depending on if you are bolting down your box (which you should do in most situations) You can also use hex head screws or star point screws. These give you a little more security in knowing that someone will really have to work to get your subs out, if they are stealing them. It also makes it harder for you too. Its a little added insurance I use and it hasnt hurt me in the past. Of course if you arent bolting down the box then the use of these screws is pretty pointless.
I have heard of using hex/star screws for subs before and was wondering where the best place to buy them would be and exactly what type?

Peace
Most home improvement stores will carry them...
Some Online I've heard those screws are pretty good. I've used that same type in some form or another in the past.
The only time using these has hurt me was an install i did in a friends car. Thieves tried to take his subs, didnt have the right bit to take the sub out so they just rammed their screwdriver through the sub... It sucked, but at least we had the satisfaction of knowing they didnt get away with the sub.
Here's a website I found, they have a bunch of different security screws and fasteners:
