Hi, Well I'am want to make to top of my box plexiglass. Any of you guys know how to bond the plexiglass to MDF and make it seal good?? I dont want to use carpenters glue as I will see the glue through the plexiglass where the screws are. The plexiglass will be flat on the top with screws of course, but I'am thinking of maybe some kind of foam to seal it or maybe clear silicone.. but would the silicone be good enough as a glue also?? thank you
Plexi is 3/4 thick like the box
Unless you use an adhesive silicon (glue and silicon in 1) a typical silicon will only provide a seal. If you could use a clear glue around the outside edge, the screws will do the rest in holding it in place, and then just sillicon around it for a seal, a pic wuld help if you have 1

i think if u bult a ledge or something for thje plexi to sit on..and this took cleaer silicon and ran a nice bead around the whole thing..like a nice think bead..let dry put in place and screw it down every 3 inches it should be fine...just screw it down tight so u get a good seal...it's like making your own custom gasket for it..

Yeah no matter what your going to be able to see that theres something there. If you could put it on from the inside it would be better.

Learning the trade one fiberglass creation at a time!
i made a box similar to what your talking about and what i did was trace out where the plexi and mdf were coming in contact with a sharpe, fliped it over and on the back side of the plexi i taped out a design that would cover anywhere that i had traced but still let you see into the box then i sprayed it with duplicolors liquid aluminum paint, fliped it over and sealed it with silicon an secured it with 1/4in rivets. it came out looking realy clean and gave it an industrial look to it.

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.
