Greetings,

I would like to make a modification my car's center console, basically around the shifter base. I would like to fiberglass it so that I can add a silver colored accent to it, sort of like the aluminum dash kits. Here is a pic of my interior:

I would only like to add the silver piece to the top portion of the shifter base and not the sides.

If possible, I would like some suggestions as to how I should proceed. Should I remove the center console shifter base, and just make a mold of the top part?

I have worked with fiberglass in the past, so this is not my first attempt.

Not quite sure what it is you want to accomplish. The silver part threw me off. FG'ing the base is one thing, but where are you going to acquire your "silver" materials from?

I agree, don't quite know what you are aiming to do. Try to modify your picture to give us an idea.

all that is basically is abs brushed silver. you can get a sheet from www selectproducts.com than you make your cuts and use a heat gun to form it. than glue ot. or its basically a dash kit.

you can probally buy a brush aluminum kit from somewhere.....thats pretty basic

are you wanting to make this accents removable? you could just paint your panels but if you're looking to fiberglass for the hell of it, take the piece of, cover it with aluminum paper and fiberglass over it, that will give you a nice mold of the original part, cut to size, sand, primer, paint with a chrome or metallic spray can... that'll do for you...
