I got one of these harnesses and I'm going to try to install the CK-3100 myself on a 2004 Escalade and a 2005 Envoy SLT. The only thing I'm not sure about is what is the best place to 12v constant and 12V switched from on those cars. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,
Alex

Goto the ignition switch heavy gauge wires

pink-ignition

red- constant

fuse lines are included.

also you want to use the thin brown and green wire comming off the black box.

put them to the corosponding wires, pink pink/black on GMCELL

parrott includes no wire diagram. if you need more info let me know

Rich,

Thanks for the help... Greatly appreciated...

I did the install today. There are two problems that I still need to resolve. I used an orange heavy gauge wire as the switched 12v, but as soon as I turn the car off the CK-3100 turns off as well. I wanted to have so that it would turn off when the door was opened as does the radio. The second issue is the OnStar. I hooked up the relays as instructed by SoundGate, but the OnStar does not work. It mutes the radio but there is only clicking sounds. The CK-3100 works as expected so I think I connected the relays correctly. I tried reversing the polarities on the OnStar wires, but I got the same result. I hope I didn't confuse the mute wire with one the input wires coming off of OnStar.

By the way, I ended up installing it in the Escalade. Next week I'm ordering another for the Envoy. If any one is interested I found the best price for the CK-3100 at www.compuplus.com. Even better pricing that on Ebay.

Any suggestion are welcomed.

Thanks,
Alex

I only suggest the soundgate adapter because I have never had a problem.

and the soundgate adapter has no relays, it is a databuss, mute, audio input harness.I never used relays in the past

If someone has another option i would like to know what it is.

Guys,

SoundGate gave me a digram to hookup the relays. The GMCell adaptor does not come with relays. I had to buy them separately and hook them up. If there is something better out there I would like to know. I'm planning on doing my 2005 Envoy as well and if I don't have to deal with the relay even better... They are pretty noise anyway, you can hear them closing and opening when making phone calls...

Please send me the details on the other harness... pacheco at alumni dot rice dot edu.

Regards,
Alex

as far as your parrot staying in sync with you retained accessory power all you need is a part from PERIPHERAL called a GMRAP. I think that Soundgate has the same thing but can't remember the model #.

What it does is tap into the data wire at the radio and constant and ground and provides a RAP 12volt out to power pretty much anything within the current limits such as sat. radio/cd changer/hands free/ you know anything of the sort and then if you need higher current just trigger a relay

I check with Peripheral... The kit cost $60... I think I will leave it as is for a while...

I'm going to try Soundgate... hopefully they will have better pricing...

Thanks for the information...

Alex

I decided to buy the one from SoundGate. Sorry I didn't get your post until after I bought the units.

Now the question is, which cable is the Data Bus? Is it from the radio harness? I have a 2005 GMC Envoy and a 2004 Cadillac Escalade.

Any additional information would be appreaciated.

Regards,
Alex

Did you ever find out which one is the databus wire? I'm looking to do the same thing in my '03 Silverado.

Sounds like this sound gate part is a little confusing......I have never used it ....but I would highly reccomend using the direct interface I mentioned earlier....no relays......no data bus interfacing.......its plug and play........trust me.........it works!

customautomotiv is right. I used the soundgate piece 3 or 4 times and now i buy the "Cellcite" surround sound cable and pair it with a LOC1 (line output converter) and you make a seemless install, on star is still totally funtional, and is priority to the handsfree kit. If you are on the cell and you gwet in an accident it can still call the police. The line output converter is also available to adjust the sound for the best audio quality for your kit. This uniot puts the sound through all 4 speaker not just fronts. look back in the posts there is a # for michael in CA he will hook you up.

do it right. I learned, on star is expensive to use but when your pinned under the steering wheel upside down on a snowy night in feb, you will be happy that you hear a voice asking if you are ok.

Customautomotiv is right on with the "cellsite" harness. I used the gmcell harness several times and then after speaking to cellsite realized that the gmcell doesnt allow the onstar to work durring an accident

look back in this post there is a # for Michael in CA

DO IT Right,

All though On Star is quite expensive to use, You will be much happier when you are in the ditch on the side of route 80 in feb in a snowstorm and you hear the "is everything Okay" from an opperator.
