Hey guys this is my first post and thread. My names Aaron Pulaski and I'm from New Orleans, Louisiana. I'm so glad i found this site! I attend NADC National Auto-Diesel College. I'm learning to be a diesel mechanic :) Right now I'm learning everything about the electrical systems in the vehicles today! Which is a good bit of stuff!!! I own a 2000 Ford Ranger thats pretty clean and very low to the ground. I'll show a pic if anyone is interested. But enough about me, here my problem: - My gf has a 2000 Ford Focus 2.0L 4 cylinder and she has this one problem that I would like to fix for her!!! every time she pushes on the gas the brake light comes on and flickers for a few seconds then goes away. Also does this when she takes a hard turn. Weird isn't it? But she freaks out all the time bc she thinks its a huge ordeal!! I've told her its nothing to worry bout but she still freaks out. I'm so fed up with her complaining about I'm ready to fix the problem. So if anyone could help or give any suggestions, I would appreciate it a lot! Check the brake fluid. The level is probably low.

I mean i havent really thought it would be that the brake fluid would be low....bc its only when she presses on the gas and turns hard... but I could always check. Could there be any other reasons why? ------------- NADC- Cummins Mid-South- Diesel Mechanic

Is this the brake fluid warning light or the parking brake warning light? If its the first case, then Mr. Idiot is right but I would also physically check sensor at brake resevoir, if second check switch at base of parking brake. I once had a Vectra (Saturn Aura) that wouldn't remote start because the park brake switch wasn't going to ground. Be happy she doesn't have the UK turbo-diesel version the (electronic) throttle sticks at 32mph!

Aaron the switch at the base of the parking brake (=ebrake) is loose. Tighten it up, wil solve problem.

Aaron, Dont know if you got this solved yet, but low brake fluid CAN trigger a dash light. On my car its the ABS warning light, but other cars may be the E-brake light. So make sure the fluid is topped up (for safetys sake) Also try holding the E-brake handle when accelerating or turning and see if the light still comes on. When I was launching at the dragstrip, my E brake light would come on for a second, as the acceleration "lifted" the handle a bit. Enough to make the light come on. It might just be wiggly and need a tightening. Good luck.
