vehicle blackout

Hey all,

Currently outfitting a 2009 Chevy Impala for a local county Deputy Sheriff. How can I go about doing the following:

1) Turn off the seatbelt ding (can't find in owner's manual)
2) Wire in a switch to "black out" all vehicle lights, including brake lights even when brakes are applied. Besides the obvious safety risks, keep in mind the purpose of the vehicle.
3) The dome light always comes on upon opening the door, no matter if I turn the dimmer switch completely off. Any way to disable this?

Simple way is to wire switches/relays in series with the feeds to those items. Some will require multiple poles (#2).

1) the door chime is multiplexed. you can stop it by removing the radio or cutting the door pin wire, and wire in a relay to turn on the dome light only

2) you will need to use quite abit of relays to kill all lights.

3) isolate the circuit with a relay. you will be able to allow the domelight to come on or off by a hidden toggle.

Thanks guys. I was trying to figure out if there was a quick way to disable the brake lights without multiple relays (maybe finding the wire at the fuse box) but I'll probably have to just bite the bullet and do it the old fashioned way.

The multiplexing is a pain in the butt. I can't believe on a police vehicle you would even think that door chimes and bright automatic lights are a good thing.

Oh well, maybe that is why the Crown Vic stayed de-facto issue for so long.

The brake switch would be a good place to interrupt both brake lights with only one relay.
