OEM trunk incandescent bulb is pretty dim. My trunk is 194 plug socket. Since LED uses low energy I am curious if it will work if I buy a white 24-LED strip LED from ebay and separately buy a 194 base and connect it to the strip LED and connect it to the trunk.

Is there a LED limit without modification. Thanks.

I'm curious why the OEM is dim, and why not fit a bigger bulb (observing heat/power limits etc)....

But if it's a 12V LED string you should be fine.

A 24 LED strip is probably 6 parallel strings of 4 LEDs, or 8 strings of 3 etc. (EG - LEDs are 2V-4V, typically 20mA).

If 20mA LEDs, that means 6x20mA or 8x20mA = 160mA max.
160mA x 12V (13.8V) = 1.92 (2.208) Watts.

IE - that 24 LED strip draws the same current/power as a 2W incandescent bulb.

it's an amber color 15yrs old stock bulb. sometimes it's hard to look for stuff like a backup beer bottle opener.

the math you have there is exactly what i needed. thanks.
