i just purchased 2x 3led strips that we want to put in the exterior door handles that will blink when we arm the alarm any suggestions on what i need to make them blink????

Do you want them to blink at the same time as the alarm LED or just blink when the alarm is armed? Most likely your alarm system won't have enough current on the LED output to drive all the extra LEDs so you'll need to use a transistor to amplify the current. You will need to use a volt meter to determine what side of the alarm LED is pulsed and which side is constant, then hook the switching side up to the base of the proper transistor.

If you don't mind if they blink on their own, you can use a circuit to make them blink (search 555 timer circuits). You can use the (-) when armed output to power the circuit so it only flashes when the alarm is armed. Since you are talking about doing stuff with the car off make sure you stay away from electromagnet relays as they will drain the battery.
