Hi all, I'm probably doing my usual trick of over thinking this but here goes:

Vehicle is a 2012 Jaguar Xk, with Bi Xenon. Customer wants Bi LED fitting. all of the associated wiring is done and tested, however the car's bcm is flagging it up as an short to ground and thus tripping the output.

I have measured the current draw of the original main beam shutter to be 300mA, where as the specfication for the LED unit say it is 2700mA.

Is just adding a load resistor the easiest way to overcome this?

I presume you need to decrease the draw from 2700mA to 300mA.

Try a relay with a ~300mA coil and get take the 2700mA from another power source.

IT sees the current WAY above 300mA, so it thinks it is shorted, which current can almost double when there is a short, so you're past 600mA.

You need to use a relay for the current draw to satisfy the BCM, then use 30 to 87 for the power needed for the LEDs. So, you're using the stock wiring to power the relay only, so the current is satisfied, then using the relay to power the lights.

Get a relay.
Get another OEM light plug with bare wires.

So:
With the two factory harness wires, one goes to 85, and the other to 86. This acts as the BULB for the circuit, and is simply the satisfy circuit. If it reads the bulb is out, then you can parallel in a resister to get the mAs needed, but you NEED the relay. You do not need to CUT the oem plug off, just jumper the relay between the two wires, jumper in a resistor if needed to raise current draw if needed.

With the other harness you got, plug that into the LED, then run Battery+ to Pin 30 of the relay, then Pin 87 to the PLUS side of the wire for the LED. Ground the other side of the harness to chassis.
