I purchased some LED lights for lighting up my powered steps from f150leds. I have a 2014 f150 Platinum and the wiring chart says to tap into the solid purple wire  for the hot wire on both sides of the car front panels as you step into the car. The passenger side worked as directed with no issues. The drivers side has no solid purple wire and checking various wires with a voltage meter I am unable to find a match to the 11.72V I am seeing on the passenger side. These lights go on when you unlock the door or if you open the doors. Any suggestions would be great. I have tested running a wire from the drivers side to the passenger side (across my seats) to verify the lights work if I tap into the one purple wire on the passenger side and they do. So I know the issue is not with the ground wire that is already hooked up.

Hook both sides in parallel (which is what the wiring chart says) - ie, both to the same purple.
