Hello, on my old car (2002 Acura TL type s) I tricked the OE headlight switch to think my low beams were on by using an Add a circuit, then hooked to the factory combo switch...and tada... fully independent fog lights.

I've tried doing this on my current car, a 2006 Subaru legacy. Everytime I've used the high beams, or even flash to pass..it blows a fuse. I even tried a diode and still, blown fuses is my result.

Can anyone help me before I just wire up the fogs using an auxiliary wiring kit? I'd like to keep using my factory combo switch....

It's possible they use the same fuse to feed both relays under the hood. If the fuse is 15 amps or less, this is likely your problem. If you have a diagram, check and see. If so, a rewire may be in order. You may still be able to use the factory stalk to control it, just wire up your own relay with it's own power source.

Also note, in the United States, it is illegal to have more than two sets of front facing lighting on at the same time (low beams/high beams/fogs).
