Here is a description of the problem

After the vehicle is remotely started, I have to enter the vehicle and turn the ignition key in the following manner.

1. Unlock doors using the remote.

2. Open the door and enter vehicle.

3. Insert and turn the ignition to the "run" position.

4. Hit the brake pedal.

5. Close the door.

If I close the door before performing step 3 and 4, the dome light will not turn off.....

There are 3 different people on Hondapilot.org that this is happening to with 3 different remote start brands. It looks like a Honda problem. Does anyone know what the problem is or a way around it?

Thanks

Frank O.

Frank,

When you say it does not shut off, do you mean it stays on longer than expected.ie. Stays on forever, or stays on for 30 seconds.?The reason I ask for your clarification is that, some people may not note that it does take longer to turn off.Opposed to simply staying on the entire time. So simple test, do what is you have to do to make it stay on.Then time the light to see if it does indeed stay on forever, or simply turns off after a period of time.

I did try opening and closing the door several times and tried the on off switch and nothing happened. I didn't actually time it. When I started it as described earlier, I believe the light shut off the minute the door was shut. I have the key fobs wrapped up in a box right now as a Christmas present so I cannot play with it. I was asking because I had heard 2 other people had reported the same problem.

isn't that something to do with dome light delay....I had a problem with that for a few remote start installs I have done....but in order to better understand your problem it'd be better to knwo if the light stays one permantly/delays for like a minute or a few seconds/or so on....
