hey gang, i've got a set of neon pedals installed on my car, but the transformer box seems to have blown.   i'm wondering if anyone has ever built their own converter?  obviously it has to take 12v as input and step up to something higher, but how much higher, i don't know.  does anyone have a clue approximately what output voltage would be sufficient and at what current?  circuit diagram?  i'd love to build my own.

by the way, how many of you have had problems with these little black boxes?

I'm not sure on the out put power, but from what i've seen and heard, those little black boxes tend to go out quite often.

Always remember to test wires with a Digital Multimeter!

the only thing i can think of to do is find a variable voltage power supply, and hook it up to the pedals.  crank up the voltage until they glow (like they are supposed to not fixing to burst into flames HEHE)  then measure the voltage.
