Hello all,

I would like to wire a shift light for the car I'm building.  It uses a honda f4i motorcycle engine and we use the wiring harness and instrument panel from the motorcycle.  Is there a way to tap into the tach wire and create something to light up a shift light at a certain RPM.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Preston

I'm pretty sure that if you buy a tach light it will have a tach sensing wire that you hook up to the coil.  Then you adjust the point at which the light comes on via a potentiometer that is located in the tach light.

I was thinking about making my own unit and custom fitting it into our dash maybe using led's or something like that.  Do you know if there is a way to do it without purchasing a shift light?
