I am asking for peoples opinion on which I should use.  I am trying to illuminate 3 amps that are going to be sunk unerneath plexi in the bed of a truck.  You arent going to be abe to see the entire amp through the plexi and I want to put a light source (red) around the amps to illuminate them.  I also have 2 logos, a viper logo, and an "SRT-10" logo that are going to be plexi with the logo cut out of black vinyl, so I need to backlight those, so I want them to be evenly lit, I was thinking of going around the edge with lights just like the amps, so you wont be able to see the lights themselves.

Now heres the question.  Should I use Cold Cathodes to light all this up, or that Side glowing Fiber Optic cable??  They would end up costing close to the same price, I'm just wondering about light output, effect, and durability.

Thanks for the help.

Heres a picture of the layout to help out.  It's crude but it gives you an idea.  The two small amps are 13x23 the large one is 13x33, the viper logo is basically 24x24 and the srt logo is 8x48 (inches)

AFAIK CC will put off more light. Fiber optic is pretty expensive, but you could do a color changing effect with it. But for just a glow, i would use CC. side emitting FO is still supposed to be seen - i've never seen it used like that, but it would be neat. Do you have any example pics?

Heres an example of side emitting fiber using a single led.
One benifit to led is no high frequency power supply to possibly leak into the audio signals.

The LED is a pre-production sample K2 led. Driven @ 1400 mA.
The fiber is 7mm solid core.
